The Mariners Centre is fully capable of hosting large conferences, conventions, trade shows and other types of event tourism. However, our ability to market our facility to attract this business has been negatively impacted by the significant reduction in the number of available fixed roof accommodations since the loss of the ferry service. We have a symbiotic relationship with the accommodations and service industries. We have already been advised that one group cannot return due to the lack of accommodations. These activities would generate significant revenues in the community.

We are convinced that a case can be made for a properly structured seasonal international ferry operation between Nova Scotia and New England reinstating a considerable contribution of millions of dollars to the provincial economy.
